Upon returning to our hotel, we visited the "Alaska Experience Theater", which was conveniently located next to our hotel! It's two main attractions were the Imax movie showcasing the beauty of Alaska, and an exhibit about the 1965 earthquake, including a shaking floor to simulate the events.
After this, we went our separate ways for a while. I ventured down to the walking path along the foreshore of Cook Inlet before dinner.
Oscar Anderson was a native of Sweden who built this house, overlooking Cook Inlet, in 1915, after walking from Seward to Knik. Anderson, with partner Jensen, started a butcher shop which eventually became the "Ship Creek Meat Company". This house is now a museum.

The western end of the city of Anchorage. The railway line is the one running to Seward.
Very low tide on Cook Inlet. Ship Creek runs right to left, in front of the buildings in the distance.

On the way back to the hotel, I took this photo looking east on West 5th Avenue. Our hotel, The Westmark, is visible; it's located at about the end of the branch leaning to the right of the smaller tree in the image.
