Ketchikan certainly lived up to its reputation of being wet. This was a morning with another early start, because of the distance to travel to Juneau. The boat pulled out just after 7:30AM, and then breakfast service began!
Our hotel is in the centre of this image. There are a number of separate buildings, and I think Kelly and I stayed in the one second from the right. The restaurant is located in the building to the far left.
Wider angle view of the original part of Ketchikan. Our hotel is still located in the centre of the image.
Looking north from about the same position as above, showing some of the newer parts. We did not go up there at all - a short time last evening and inclement weather combined against us.
Being Alaska, float planes are almost as useful as a car for getting around.
The plane in this picture took off as we were leaving the wharf. This is the direction we were headed, and as you can see, it was not a lovely sunny day!
The Alaskan State Ferry Columbia in Ketchikan. There was another ferry here too, so this may be a major base for them, which would not be surprising, as there is no road leading to Revillagigedo Island on which Ketchikan is located.
A much smaller ferry, from Ketchikan to Gravina Island, just across the channel from Ketchikan, but also the site of the airport!
