Queen Charlotte Sound

Note that all these photos were taken through windows, and some of them contain reflections from lights inside the boat. They are not flying saucers!

Isolated living on a lighthouse, north of Port Hardy, BC

One of the two islands in Queen Charlotte Sound with a lighthouse. This one, I think, is the southern island - no name for this island on the maps I have.

Islands north of Port Hardy, Queen Charlotte Sound

Another set of islands in Queen Charlotte Sound.

Distant mainland, shrouded in low cloud, Queen Charlotte Sound

BC mainland from somewhere on Queen Charlotte Sound. Not a very hospitable looking place at that time!

Even under these less than pleasant conditions, commercial shipping continues as we pass a barge being towed up the coast.

Island lighthouse, half way across Queen Charlotte Sound

The other island with a lighthouse on the sound. This one is located near the entrance to Smith Sound.

Probably

I think this Kelp Head on the northern side of Smith Sound. The headland/mountain is not easy to see in the mist - it partly disappears in the clouds, and generally dark conditions.

Probably

The rugged BC coastline on the northern end of Queen Charlotte Sound.

As we continued north behind Calvert Island the waters calmed down as the islands protected from the worst of the northern Pacific swells.
