At Campbell River, the Inside Passage route narrows considerably. Vancouver Island and mainland BC come closer together, and there are more islands. This continues most of the way to Port Hardy, our destination for the evening.
Many of us were avid readers, and this was one area where we were able to read without missing too much. That's Quadra Island on the right, Vancouver Island on the left.
One of a number of bays and inlets we passed along the way. This one is probably part of Quadra Island.
An isolated dwelling
The low clouds on this day seemed appropriate for this area. But seeing it on a nice sunny day might have changed my mind about that!
We were motoring along at a rapid rate of knots when the boat slowed down, for no obvious reason. Slowing down or even stopping was expected - slowing for narrow passages, stopping to observe sea creatures and so on. But we could not see any reason for this one.
Then we turned around and started going back from where we had just come! This is the view out the back of the boat. The oil drums contain diesel fuel. The boat only used its "day tanks" for this journey, and they were not quite big enough for one of the legs.
