Continuing along the track took us to the koala exhibit.
At certain times during the day, the koalas are awoken,
and visitors are allowed to hold them. We thought the boys
might like this, but it was at least 10 minutes, and well,
less than 2 and 4 year old boys don't have much patience,
so we decided to move right along. There were three
koalas in the trees like this, and every so often one would
use a back paw to scratch away. And then back to sleep.
This stork was finding success fishing for breakfast.
Home, sweet home - among the trees.
A blue billed duck? I've never seen one with these colourings before.
Another feeder, another bird feeding.
I believe these are eclectus parrots, the female on the left,
with back to camera, and the male on the right. Both of them
are quite beautiful, the male more so than the female, as is common;
however the female is still very attractive.
Ah, family portrait. Left to right: Peter, Yvonne, Flynn,
Jake, Keiran, Michelle and Cameron.
Another pretty bird, just beside the path, chewing away.
Stepping through the double doors, we exited the aviary and entered
the cold, hard world. Well, it wasn't very cold... And lo, a pair
of emus (pronounced eam-ewes for American consumption; NOT ee-moos).
