Kelly and Glenn decided to have a quiet wedding in Port Douglas. In mid November, the beginning of the wet season (when it is hot, and is either raining, or about to rain, and extremely humid and uncomfortable). So be it. Although Port Douglas was chosen because they like it, and it has a wonderful church for a wedding, it was also likely to keep it small.
Well, plans are one thing, but Kelly and Glenn's friends decided small was not such a great idea. In all, over 70 people flew in for the event. The furthest distance award goes to Al and Julia, who were flatmates of Kelly at one time. They came from the north of England, just pipping Keiran and Natalie, who "only" came from London!
And there was very little rain - just one day, and it was not the day of the wedding!
Special family milestones were Jake and Flynn's first trip in a plane, and while in Port Douglas, Jake "got swimming". Although he had some lessons before leaving, he had not connected all the dots. But with plenty of encouragement from his Dad, and having 2 pools at Hibiscus Gardens (where we stayed), it all came together for him. He's not an Olympic champion, but he was swimming.
Overall it was a great time, with many pleasant memories that will live for years.
