A first! My car is
finally
on my little piece of Australia! Only 2 years after I bought it
(the land, that is, not the car). The reason was the winding up
of the Harris lighting warehouse in Revesby. Yes, at last, the
boxes of light fittings and ceiling fans were on the way to their
appointment with destiny. And because the car was full (actually
took 2 trips!) it was easier to drive in to unload all the items.
Update:
And this will also be the last (and only) time
that
car will be on my property.
On January 13th, a red light runner removed most of the car in
front of the front wheels. Subsequently the insurance company wrote
it off.
Painting
Richard and John have been busily painting away after Christmas
(Robert is on holidays), and it was a nice surprise to see the
walls have their first coat of paint (second if you count the primer/sealer).

The left image shows the view from the kitchen area, down the western
hallway to bedroom 2. The right hand image is looking from the hall
into the master bedroom and into the ensuite.
And these show up something. It's not as obvious in the photo as in
real life, but the walls in bedroom 2 (l) and master bedroom (r) are
a more intense (saturated) colour than the foreground wall.
And that was a bit of a problem.
The colour I selected, on the paint card, was a very light yellow.
Yellow can be a very intense colour, which is not to my liking.
The result of all this was the change of saturation depending upon
the illumination. Generally, the darker the area, the more intense
the colour. Some time later I concluded this is due to the darker
areas being illuminated by the light reflected off other yellow
walls, and thus there is a "yellow magnification" effect.
After some experimenting, and (later) test painting of the lounge
room and master bedrooms, a less intense version of this
colour was adopted. That, of course, requires an additional painting
of the walls, so the price will goes up accordingly.
Electrical Finishing
Craig has also been working over this period, and here are the
fruits of that - the lights are installed in bedroom 4. Not easily
visible is the wire dangling from the middle of the ceiling for the fan.
Less than an hour later, the ceiling fan is installed and connected.
As the house is not powered up yet, none of these things work,
but at least the room is looking complete!
