Heritage Train Weekend 2014, in Sydney
The Queen's Birthday weekend in July is when the heritage trains return to Central, to show them off and to take a ride with them. This video includes a ride along the freight line from Sydenham through Chullora to Lidcombe, a line not normally available to the public.

On the Queen's Birthday weekend, the New South Wales Rail Heritage Museum stages a train expo at Central Station, culminating in the Great Train Race on Monday afternoon. Two steam locomotives, with vintage carriages, race from Central to Strathfield.

The Santa Train
The Santa Train is a steam train from Hurstville to the Loftus Tram Museum. Peter, Cooper, Lily and I travelled on this, as the little ones experienced their first ride in a steam train, and on an old tram. And they loved it. And so did the adults.
