Air inflated jumping castle on left, blue and white painted cubby house with a woman and child to the right

Cooper's 6th birthday party was his first for his friends outside the family. Fortunately it was a warm, sunny day. These have been a rarity of late.

To keep the party goers entertained, there is a jumping castle, seen here on the left. Kept upright by air pressure, this results in a structure with bounce and no hard edges to harm the energetic 6 year olds. Since my last visit, the cubby house on the right has been brightened up; it was stained wood, but the new colour scheme is much more inviting. Lily is pointing out some decoration to Yvonne.

Swimming pool with inflatable shark, walrus and yellow ball The shark looks quite friendly, and even the walrus doesn't look too concerned. The shark did turn out to be somewhat treacherous, but not with its mouth! It does turn turtle quite easily, and the littlies figured that out soon enough, and had much fun with it!

Yellow plastic slide placed on lawn for youngsters to slide along This is a water slide! The blue strip down the middle is hollow, with a connectio to a garden hose at the far end. This did not work too well at the beginning, but eventually was able to spray water out along the length of the sheet. This makes sliding much easier! Then somebody added a little detergent, and that really helped sliding.

Two youngsters sliding along yellow plastic slide on lawn

The slide in action. Both competitors have a plastic ring with with a "flag". They slide down to the near end where there is a peg on the blue end piece. The peg is the same colour as the slide, and thus difficult to see. The winner is the person whose ring/flag is first on the peg.

Note that neither of these competitors have a flag. Mostly the youngsters just enjoyed the sliding part!

Table with snack food for party goers Ah, food! Lunch was a bit more of a buffet style - come and get whatever you want. When you want.

Woman serving ice cream cake to party goers, while others are already eating But ultimately there was a birthday cake (ice cream cake in this instance), and we did the usual with candles, singing and blowing out the candles. All that's on the video clip. Here, Yvonne is handing out slices of "cake"; Cooper, being birthday boy, already has his.

Swimming pool with young children and pool toys Mayhem in the pool. A sunny day and a pool is enough to make many of the youngsters happy. And tired.
