Surprisingly, it was a dry day, and a very pleasant day to ride down to help celebrate Flynn's 8th birthday.
Lily impressed me by blowing up a balloon! Quite a feat for a
3.5 year old! This was supposed to be a video, but operator error
meant I didn't press the correct button.
The only two girls in the act - Lily and Keely, from the site next door.
They had a good time decorating the table.
Meanwhile, the boys were doing what boys do: preparing to capture the
campground from the opposition. There is quite an arsenal of weapons
ready for the boys.
There's no shortage of transport among these youngsters - this collection
is on the front lawn, and includes the girls choices too: the pink,
three wheeled scooter (top right) is Lily's, while the white, upside down
skateboard was Keely's.
The table decorating continues. Unfortunately it was rather windy -
this photo is looking about north east, and that's where the wind
was coming from. It proved quite difficult to maintain lighted candles
on the cake.
The ceremony over, it's eating time! As often happens, the children
don't seem very hungry, and there was some food left over. Even after
the adults had their share.
Time to open the presents. A number of the boys from the park gave
Flynn a present, as well as family.
Flynn with two of his presents - the
Sniper
hat, and a diecast (metallic) cap gun. Peter used to have one of
these, and he was lucky to find one in the nearby shops. Nostalgia
and a good present. You can see Flynn firing this in the video below.
The unofficial party picture. Flynn in the centre, holding up one of
his (still wrapped) presents; Cooper in front, obscuring Tynan, and
Jake just to the right of Flynn (partly obscured). And Lily on far left.
