The plan was to attend Mass in Kangaroo Valley as a family. This was also the morning to end daylight savings time. Thus, the 11AM Mass, coupled with the (now) "early" rising, meant we were just sort of hanging around. So, the decision was made to leave early - we had access until 3PM. Michelle stayed behind, as the boys wanted to play tennis. Jake is quite good at it, but then he is very good at ball sports in general.
Arising at the now an hour earlier time showed fog. Hmmmm, not
exactly in the forecast! However, over breakfast it started to
burn off, and before not too much longer, this was the scene
looking south - blue sky ahead!
Cooper and Flynn were a bit too short to really use the cue sticks,
so they invented a new game, using their hands to move the balls.
Not exactly standard, but it was something they could do.
And much less likely to damage the table!
Rather than riding home the reverse direction to that coming down,
I headed towards Cambewarra Lookout to see if the view was any
clearer this morning. It wasn't much better. But, now, courtesy
of cousin Garry in Toronto, I had the names of the operators of
the tea room - Willmott. Alas, the current operators were not
around, so I could not talk about it with them. I did buy the
booklet describing the history of the lookout, but it ends in
the 1940s, which was before the Willmott period.
This is greater Nowra, and it appears that Jervis Bay is just
visible "above" Nowra, and a little to the left. Note that
the contrast of these two images has been manipulated to
improve the details.
From here it was on towards Nowra, then turn left and back towards Sydney. An entirely uneventful journey both ways, which is how I like it. An excellent weekend was had by all, and we may just end up doing this on an annual basis!
