Afternoon boating was a cruise up the river then down to Noosa and back.
This is Richard Branson's "village" on Makepeace Island in the Noosa River. Technically it is one home - only one of the buildings has a kitchen, and that is the definition of a home! And it's a private escape - invitation only, I assume.
Chris and Deb live on Noosa's North Shore, although they are east of Tewantin! There is no bridge across the river, meaning this ferry is the only way to drive to their home, or to have things delivered. There is mail service! I hear tell the ferryman is also something of a security guard, knowing the few people who live on the north shore, and what they drive! The ferry has priority over other river traffic. It's a cable hauled system, not a free floating scheme.
The Noosa River is quite wide, but very shallow. Chris warned that if we go much further there's a chance I'd need to get out and push! The navigation channel moves quite a bit, especially recently after all the rain.
This mountain is not easy to name, but it likely is Mt. Pinbarren. Google's topographic map shows several mountains in that area; none of them are named!
The scene of this morning's boat recovery exercise, as seen by Chris and Aaron, except of course there's no waiting trailer!
And finally, a beautiful end to an enjoyable day - sunset over Tewantin, as seen from Chris and Deb's verandah. Well, it does partly make up for the rain earlier in the day!
