The above is the Going Places exhibit. The operator consoles allow control of traffic lights and other activites on the system. The user can snarl traffic as much as desired! They are the only photos from Questacon; it's hard for a photo to convey the action involved, including such things as the earthquake simulator home. Experience a quake, and never forget it.
Here the boys are gallantly defending us from the enemy coming down the park from the Treasury Building (I think that's what it is) - perhaps they are tax collectors!
This photo matches the corresponding one taken from the steps of the War Memorial yesterday. Only this time, the view is from the Old Parliament House.
The Old Parliament House, with its basically simple, yet elegant design. It has aged well, even with the extensions required to handle the growing number of people working the building.
This is the main entrance to Old Parliament House, which I believe has been transformed into a museum of democracy. The three flags are (closest) the Aboriginal flag, the other two being the Australian flag; the one at the rear is atop the New Parliament House, the middle one being on the old building.
Somewhat later, the boys needed to let off steam, so we stopped at a rest area. Hard as it is to imagine, this tranquil rural scene was the sight of some hectic defending by the boys!
From here it was an entirely uneventful return to Sydney, to end a pleasant, and quite educational, two day excursion to the national capital.
