Decade Birthday

Every 10 years, the age odometer ticks over in the most significant digit. Thus it was for me this year. So, it seemed like time to have a party, and indeed a double barrelled one - birthday combined with house warming. A busy week (house and party preparations) finished with a great evening with family and friends from near and some from very far.

And my thanks to Peter Fyfe for taking these photos. My usual photographer (i.e. me) was rather busy this night.

Two men standing in kitchen

My brother Peter (left) during his "introduction" to me. Which is a little strange as many of the guests were unknown to him until this evening. But the same was also partly true for me as I had the pleasure of meeting a couple "in the flesh" for the first time.

Guests around the room

Those still left by "speech" time.

From left to right above: Yvonne, Michelle, Kelly and Glenn, Sarah, Chris, Melvyn, Peter (seated), Jack, Shasta, Christine and Nick, Len, Gita (mostly obscured by Len), Laurie and Rob.

A somewhat aerial view of the speechmaking and a few of the guests.

Man leaning against wall holding wine glass

Do I normally look as though I am about to nod off? Perhaps my words were even sending me to sleep!

Man cutting birthday cake

At long last, the talking's done, it's time to return to eating! I don't recall the last time when I cut the birthday cake. Fortunately, Michelle of Portions Catering (no longer around) is supervising and ready with the plates.
