Comet Watching - Another Attempt

Venus in the evening from Gibson Avenue

Friday was my grand-nephew Flynn's third birthday, so there was a party to celebrate the event. I believe Flynn now understands birthdays! In any event, I didn't leave until about sunset. Fortunately I don't live far away, and I had left the tripod setup in the front room. So upon reaching home, and tracking a few web links, I found that the comet should still be visible, and roughly where it would be. But good old Venus is what I first caught. But notice the cloud. Annoying cloud - no rain, which is sorely needed, but comet blocking nonetheless.

"There it is men" - one of those family sayings from long ago. And indeed, looking a little further south, it was clearly visible. Well, clearly except for the b****y power lines!

The times above are those recorded by the camera, a Nikon D70S. The camera's clock is about 45 seconds fast. As the flight path into Sydney airport is over this area of sky, several of the images show passing planes. Note the exposure time of most of these images is about 1 second.
