On Easter Sunday, April 16th, I drove to Bendalong, which is located a little south of Sussex Inlet, itself a little south of Jervis Bay. Peter and Yvonne have a caravan down there, and it was family reunion day (well, for the part of the family resident in Australia). I haven't driven down that way for a very long time, and I was reminded of how nice the country is down there. Of course, there's always the curse of Sunday Drivers, and they seemed to be out in force. I don't know why they have such trouble keeping up to the speed limit. But I digress.
Kelly and Glenn's baby Cooper was wide awake when I arrived. Not for much longer, but he was then. Now all of 2 months old.
Kelly and Cooper enjoying a bit of piece and quiet together.
To burn off some of the bigger boy's energy, Peter took Jake and Tynan to Boat Harbour Beach, just a few minutes walk from the family base. This image is looking a little north of east out into the Tasman Sea. Peter and the boys are the figures on the right. And notice all the seaweed on the beach - presumably caused by the heavy seas of the last week or so.
Three easy steps to build a very small sand castle. First fill container with sand, as Jake has done.
Quickly tip the container onto the beach, as Jake has now done.
And instant castle results, as shown in detail.
So, naturally, bigger is better, so the two boys (or should that be the three boys?) built a bigger castle, with "windows" and flags. Then so proud of their work, a group photo is to be had.
Being a place with many youngsters, it was not surprising to find a number of surf board riders waiting for a wave in Bendalong's Boat Harbour.
And even a few reasonable waves. I guess this was reasonable, since several of them decided to try riding it.
And this surfer rode this wave into the beach.
