Around Saratoga

On Tuesday, September 27th, Jeff and I completed the paperwork for sale of my bike, and I noted the transfer on the WA DOT's web page. We engaged in other assorted activities during the morning, and by mid afternoon were ready to go play photographer!

Trees in front of Jeff Newman's home

While Jeff was getting the car out, I snapped this photo of the autumn colours on the street in front of his home.

Hakone Gardens

Not far from Jeff's home is Hakone Gardens, the oldest Asian and Japanese estate in the Western Hemisphere, covering some 18 acres. In 1918 an architect was retained and construction began.

First stop was the visitor centre to buy tickets. And, of course, to look at the merchandise. These are quite amazing warriors made from springs.

Hakone Gardens, Saratoga

In the midst of the garden is a eucalyptus tree! They're quite common in parts of California, at least as far as a little north of San Francisco.

Jeff taking a serious photo! The bamboo grove (I hesitate to call it a forest) is on the right.

And this little area is on the left, which is detailed in the following image.

And from the same location, a look towards the bamboo grove, and another eucalyptus tree.

An amusing sign in a zen garden? [The 'Stay on Path' part]

A rather attractive sign along side the walkway.

Upper House in Hakone Gardens, Saratoga

The Upper House, located on Moon Viewing Hill. This was the original house built in 1918, constructed without nails.
