Illawong Afternoon

May 10th was an administrative day for me - meaning mostly dealing with stuff other than computer related. It was relieved later on in the day when Michelle bought Jake and Flynn over to Illawong.

Boys riding together

Boys riding together on the driveway in front of Yvonne and Peter's home. Jake on a trike and Flynn on his Buzz Lightyear bike.

Flynn on bike

Flynn doesn't seem very happy, even with his "sort of" smile.

Flynn looking at Jake and Peter down the driveway

Perhaps this is the reason - Jake and Peter are WAY down the driveway, perhaps out of Flynn's range or at least comfort zone.

Flynn and Jake together on bikes

Flynn is pointing up to the sky, which usually meant somebody said "aeroplane", or perphaps even that Flynn heard it and was letting us know it's there. Jake seems uninterested.

In The Bush

Gum tree growing out of rock

The boys had their fill of riding, so it was time to venture down the fire trail just in front of Peter's home. On the way down I noticed this gum tree growing from a crack in the rocks. It's amazing how tenacious life can be - from just the seed becoming anchored in a crack, to a tree growing this tall is quite amazing.

Bush scene along the fire trail

Where the following action all takes place! Peter and Jake are looking at the big rock.

Peter and Jake at rock

Hmmm, methinks Peter is teaching Jake how to "write" on the rock using a small, hard rock. Good graffiti training for later! Although sadly the local the graffiti idiots have beaten them to it.

Peter and Jake throwing rocks

Peter was also teaching Jake how to throw rocks, in this case at the big rock in the above photos. And listening for the "thwack" sound as rock hits rock.

Peter picking up rocks

Peter instructing Jake about which rocks are good to throw down the hill into the bush.

Jake throwing rock

After collecting a few rocks himself, Jake lets one fly down the hill. Not that his aim or throw is very good at this stage, but practice will help that along, especially as Jake is quite well coordinated.
