Los Angeles Airport, Heading To Sydney

I spent the night near Seatac Airport, as I had an 8AM flight out, and that requires getting to the airport by 6AM. After an enjoyable flight to LAX, I had trouble finding the Qantas checkin counter in the International Terminal, and the flight was not on the departures list. Hmmm. Walking over to the American Airlines terminal (right next door) I found what I needed, and then joined the jostle through security.

While walking around the "secure" side, I noticed a Japan Airlines plane with an interesting logo on the side. It took a while to figure out what it was, as shown here.

The logo is an outline of a DC-6B, the plane used on their first international flight in 1954. I thought this was a very clever design.

AND a good showing of the 50 years for aviation progress.
