Views From Horizon House

Horizon House is located on one of Seattle's hills, and used to have excellent views over Elliot Bay until the tall office building boom of the 1980s arrived. The following are views from the building's 19th floor.

The northerly view shows Lake Union, better seen in the following photograph. The gray building on the right is a wing of Horizon House.

North over Lake Union

A closer view of Lake Union, on a Saturday evening in August, with quite a few pleasure craft on the water. Lake Union is also a float plane landing area.

Looking West

Looking west, over downtown and Puget Sound to Olympic Mountains

The buildings blocking the view! Note also my reflection in the window - I was wearing a striped shirt.

Looking west over Puget Sound towards the Olympic Mountains

A close up view between the buildings, showing what looks like a freighter on the Sound, and over to the Olympic Mountains.

Looking South

Looking south, towards Mt. Rainier over Harborview Medical Building

Looking south, towards Mt. Rainier, and over St. James (Catholic) Cathedral and Harbor View Hospital.

Mt. Rainier, as seen from the top of Horizon House

An even closer view of Harbor View Hospital, with Mt. Rainier still bathed in sunlight and thus showing up prominently.
