The Korean Dogwood has pretty white flowers early in the year,
but as autumn approaches, the petals drop off, leaving
just a sphere until that too drops off with the leaves.
This was taken on September 13th, and you can already see the leaves changing from the green of summer to the red of autumn. The transition is slow, and the leaves never achieve that flaming red colour of maples or other colourful varieties. But what they lack in pizazz they make up with longevity of display.
