An After Dinner Bush Walk

After a light meal, Peter and I, and Nicks, the wonder dog, went for a walk along the fire trail running past Peter and Yvonne's home.

Peter and Yvonne's home seen from in the bush on Still Creek

Looking from Still Creek (so named because of the still which used to be located on it, out of range of law enforcement boats) into Peter and Yvonne's home. Note the blackened tree in the foreground - apparently this area was burnt out 5 or 6 years ago, when the buildings were under construction.

Smoky sunset (Appin fire) from Still Creek

Sunset through the branches. The end of another hot day.

Red gum on fire trail along Still Creek, Illawong

A beautiful, stately, red gum along the fire trail.

Cockatoo in red gums along Still Creek, Illawong

A blurry cockatoo among the red gums. Note that the trees appear rather red due to the reddish light from the sun just before sunset.

Red gum with hole in the trunk along Still Creek fire trail, Illawong

A holy tree!

Nix along the Still Creek fire trail, Illawong

Nicks, doing what dogs do.

A very determined red gum along Still Creek fire trail, Illawong

Some trees just like the hard way - growing out from the cracks between rocks!

The sun setting between the tree limbs as our walk is almost over.
