On Monday, December 16th, I caught the train into the city to rent a car. Being a little early (on purpose) I had a pleasant time in Hyde Park, a pleasant part of Sydney's CBD.
A view of the park, looking roughly north east from the corner of Park and Elizabeth Streets.
Another view from the same area.
A sculpture by Gerard Havekes, described thus:
The labours and beauty of pioneering mankind are depicted by the
three figures Water, Fire and Earth.
Water
is a fisherman looking to the sea and new horizons.
Fire
is a woman depicting womanhood and intuition, protecting the fire
of initiative and progress.
Earth
is a farmer depicting the pioneering efforts upon which this country
was developed.
A pair of ibis (becoming a nuisance) and a seagull enjoying the park.
Heading towards the Archibald Fountain.
