As the evening progressed, we had the joy of watching the sun set, and seeing the view changing as it went along.
A close up view of downtown Seattle, across Elliot Bay to Bainbridge Island, the Kitsap Peninsule and ultimately to the Olympic Mountains.
Looking WSW, with some autumn colours showing in the nearby trees.
Looking north along Lake Washington. The bright area in the middle of the image is Husky Stadium, at the University of Washington.
The Olympic Mountains dissapearing into the evening haze over downtown Seattle.
Close to sunset.
Colours fading from the sky.
A piper to sound the end of day.
A little of Lake Washington shows as the last of the colour is draining from the sky.
Lights coming on as the day is winding down. Notice the bright patch on the right hand side of the image. That's the calm water of Lake Washington, while the darker grey area above is the rough surface as a weather front comes through. We watched as the front made its way down the lake. Then the first puff of wind, and calm, before the real front arrived. And it cooled off about 5 degrees C as the front came through.
A close up view of downtown Seattle, including the TV towers.
