Stevens Pass

May 11th

A gloriou sunny, warm(ish) day for a change. How nice after what seems to have been a long winter. Even though it was a Saturday, such a day was too nice to waste, so the three pass ride happened. I rode clockwise, crossing Stevens, Blewett/Swauk and then Snoqualmie. OR, consider it as starting with the highest pass!

Stevens Pass

A glorious spring day for a ride to Stevens Pass

Ah! What more need one say. Snow capped mountains, blue sky, warm, bike riding. It doesn't get much better. Just a week or so ago, this area had several inches of snow on it; now I'm parking the bike.

GPS readout at Stevens Pass

The when and where display from the GPS receiver. Nice to know the details. The number in the bottom right of the two rows of larger numbers is the elevation, in feet.

Looking east from Stevens Pass

Looking east - not much snow left. Although not visible from here, there's a mountain side to the left which still has a great deal of snow on it, most of the way down.

Close up of one of the ski runs; tracks were visible

One of the ski runs. It's not very obvious here, but there were what appeared to be fresh tracks down the left side of the area about centre image. They are just visible on the larger image.

Still plenty of snow behind this building

There's still a lot of snow left - the embankment behind the building is snow from just above the rock wall up! I don't know how thick the snow is there - it may just be following the shape of the land.
