Riding Around

April 1st

April Fool's Day was sunny - well, at least in the afternoon. And not all that warm, but well it was a nice day to go for a ride. So I did. A somewhat meandering route to Snohomish, Arlington, Stanwood, Conway and onto La Conner, then turn around and go back the same way. This is approaching Tulip Time, but there was no evidence of any tulips, with one possible exception. Given how cold it's been the last few weeks, I suspect the Tulips will be late this year.

La Conner

La Conner Tulip Fields - not showing much, due to cold Spring. The dash of yellow is probably daffodils

Believe me, in the middle of this picture, taken only a mile or so from La Conner, there is a yellow field. Most likely daffodils, I suspect, given the complete absence of anything that even vaguely looks like tulips ready to blossom. The yellow patch is slightly more obvious in the larger image.

Near Silvana

Silvana is a little community on the back road from Stanwood to I-5 and/or Arlington. It's a scenic road, with a number of nice twisty bits for motorcycles!

Near Silvana - plenty of snow on the peaks

This is a view about mid way between Stanwood and Silvana, looking roughly south east towards the Cascade Mountains. I don't know the names of the peaks.

Near Silvana, the very green fields after all the rain

Closer to Silvana, and the fields are a bright green, after all the rain we've been receiving.

Old Barns...

don't die, they simply decay away, at least around here.

An old barn, slowly decaying away on the outskirts of Silvana

This one is just north of Silvana, only a few hundred yards from the edge of town. Unfortunately the light was not the most appropriate, but there are large holes in the roof and sides. Typically it will be left to collapse upon itself.

In the larger context. It wasn't clear whether the barn in the background is also decaying, or if it is just open.
