The March Snowfall

March 7th

Snow started to fall on March 7th. There were some flurries during the day, but lasting no more than a minute or so, nothing started to accumulate. However, as the evening began, the snow started to fall consistently, albeit quite lightly. But it was enough to start accumulating on the grass, and in the garden. The patio never snowed over, nor did the streets, at least not for very long.

This is the latest snow fall we have had since I have lived in Seattle. I remember one on March 1st, within the first few years of living here. There was more snow than this time, but it didn't last very long, because the temperatures were somewhat higher.

March 8th

When I awoke, the scene was one of whiteness - not everywhere, because the roads did not become snow covered. And the accumulation was not all that great - a perhaps as much as 50mm, but more like 30.

The view from the patio when I came down for breakfast. The clouds look a little threatening, and perhaps they were in the mountains, but we received no more significant snow. This view is looking south east.

Looking to the south west, it was clear and sunny. And how bright snow appears when the sun shines on it.

Looking to the north west from the front door. The roads have no snow on them, though ice might have been a problem.
