On The Road
February 8th
Rob Michael was visiting, and we had achieved most of our objectives,
so it was time to play tourist. The plan was to head to Leavenworth
for lunch. And the weather was good too - the overnight rain had
passed through, and Stevens Pass was in good condition (for the middle
of winter). So off we went, leaving home a little after 10 AM.
Approaching Stevens Pass
As the road starts climbing into the mountains, the rain was
turning to snow, and the effects of the previous night's snow
fall became evident.
After the town of Snohomish, but before Deception Falls.
Same location, but a closer view of the trees.
Looking east from the same location.
Over The Pass
While we had thought of stopping at the top for a photo, it wasn't
obvious that parking was available, nor free. And the low cloud would
have restricted photo opportunities. So we continued down the eastern
side. No exciting moments, as the "convoy" we were in was taking
it at a steady and suitable pace.
There
was
a place to pull off at the
Nordic Center
on the eastern end of Stevens Pass.
Looking back towards the summit.
Nicely draped trees.
