It's White Outside

November 28th

I had a restless night's sleep due to the wind rattling the wire screens on the bedroom windows, and some of the wind gusts even causing the house to creak! While trying to return to sleep, I turned the radio on, and heard the announcer mention snow falls around Olympia. Hmmm, not exactly expected, but well, it's winter.

Then I got up!

7:45 AM (After Breakfast)

It's White! View out my front door

Looking out the front door - it was still a bit chilly! And (not obvious) it was still snowing. Not heavily, but ... It does look pretty.

It's White! View out my front door

Much the same view, but using the flash in "fill-in" mode, which illuminates the tree just outside the front porch. It usually appears black, as the light is coming from the other side. It also caught a few snow flakes falling.

Patio, cracks still detectable

The back yard! And this was about 7:45AM. The lines in the patio are still just visible, and there's snow sitting on the top of the fence. We had, perhaps, an inch of snow all up. Totally unexpected.

Winter garden in snow, Eleagnus weighed down, though

The Eleagnus bushes are not that strong, and so bend under the snow. This stops them breaking, which is a good thing! Also, the Korean Dogwood tree is now entirely devoid of leaves. And the Dolly Parton is just visible in the bottom right corner. I don't need one for the front, as there is a valve and drain cock to allow the pipe to be emptied. Which I did a month or so ago.

11:15 AM

3.5 hours later, the patio is almost clear, Eleagnus back to normal

After a couple of hours, when the snow turned to rain, the snow is melting, and the patio is now clear (almost). And the Eleagnus bushes are back to normal.

Barberry and Viburnum now snowless too

And the Barberry and Viburnum are also back to "normal".

The snow was pretty much all gone by late afternoon.
