Snoqualmie Falls

October 5th

After the two day trip to Grand Coulee Dam, the weather remained really nice for another day, so I headed up to Snoqualmie Falls, to check out the falls (expecting a low flow rate after the dry winter and summer) and any autumn colours.

The Falls

Snoqualmie Falls from near Salish Lodge - VERY low flow after dry winter and summer

Hardly the most spectacular of water flows, but it's a pretty impressive tree near the edge. Just shows the violence of winter floods.

Looking down Snoqualmie Valley from Salish Lodge, Olympic Mountains (?) JUST visible centre left

Looking down the Snoqualmie Valley from the falls, just near the Salish Lodge. Just barely visible on the horizon on the left of the image is (what I think are) the Olympic Mountains. I've never seen them from here before, or at least never noticed. There's also an enhanced image showing the mountains.

Snoqualmie Falls from end of trail - low flow and power station working

The full view. The white water in the lower right is the exit from the power station, which was obviously taking water from the falls.
