Rosslyn

August 13th

Another nice day for a ride, so I decided to visit Rosslyn, which is better known as the town in Alaska as seen in the TV series Northern Exposure. Since I've never seen the show, I can't tell you the town's fictional name. But Rosslyn (and it's neighbour Ronald - I kid you not!) are located off I-90 near Cle Elum, which is just a little east of Snoqualmie Pass. I've passed the turn off many times, but never been in. So today was the day.

Actually, I didn't stop in Rosslyn (or the lesser Ronald), as neither seemed very impressive, especially not without snow but rather glorious sunshine - seems rather un-Alaska like. (Yes, I know parts of Alaska have no sunset for a couple of months in mid summer.)

But I did find the Cle Elum Reservoir, which was very empty, as is obvious. The dam is on the Cle Elum River which flows east into the Yakima River, and ultimately into the Columbia.

The (almost) empty reservoir. The wall is the dark patch near the middle of the picture, but is more obvious in the following pictures.

The two "objects" near the middle of the image are a couple of cars!
