Museum of Flight, March 04

Boeing 707 outside 3 storey building

A new attraction at the Museum of Flight, located at Boeing Field, just south of downtown Seattle, is Air Force One the former US Presidential plane. After many years of service, it was recently retired, and is now on display, and open to the public, in Seattle. As it's too big to fit inside the Museum, it resides on the outside. The entry inside is to the rear. I did not venture in today, as I did not have time to do it justice.

Four engined WW II bomber behind chain link fence

A World War II Boeing aircraft, the B29, used in Europe and for raids against Japan in the Pacific. In many respects it was the plane which helped Boeing into the passenger aircraft business. It was pressurised, and had a long range, and I believe the wing design was used in passenger aircraft after the war.

View over cars towards Boeing 707

Looking back over Air Force One towards the Seattle skyline, where the taller buildings are just poking above the horizon on the right. Also visible is Boeing Field, whose runway suffered considerable damage in the earthquake.
