Snow In The Morning

I'm pleased easily! Waking up to see snow on the ground is just wonderful. Perhaps because it doesn't happen often here, and it NEVER happens where I grew up. Snowy mornings are quiet, both because I suspect the snow absorbs sound, and also (depending upon the amount) there are fewer cars on the road. This was not a heavy snowfall, as will be evident from the pictures.

First snow fall of 2001 at Laurel Ridge: the front street

The Phantom Car! This was taken just before 7AM, and was an 8 second exposure. The timing of the car's movement was entirely fortuitous, but nice nonetheless. This is looking out the front window.

Looking out the other front window, towards the north east. It's easy to see which neighbours have gone to work, or are leaving.

Out The Back

View from the dining room window, showing the Eleagnus (at the bottom) and the false cypress tree, with clumps of snow.

Attempting to photograph snow flakes, using the flash

The white splotches are falling snow flakes! Captured using the flash, to illuminate the nearby objects, but not being able to do much for the background.
