The Creek

Because of the strong winds near the mountains, trees often blow down in storms. Including across the creek. The pedestrian bridge is just visible in the background.

My camera bag, sitting on a fallen and decaying log. These would have been decent size trees, which have probably been down for a few years, given the other vegetation growing in and around the tree.

The Forest

The forest in this area has been logged, but some large trees must have been left standing, including this one.

Nature responds to mankind. The tree was felled, and then given some time, a tree seed takes root in the old stump, and a new tree is born. Over the years, the old stump will decay away, leaving the new tree growing over a "hole".
