The new neighbours move into Lot 12. This is the last house in our street to be occupied. This house had been used as the model for a couple of months before the neighbours moved in.
Much progress has been made on Lot 40. Although not part of our street, it is at the end, and thus is nominally part of the street.
View over wall into the Deal's yard Looking east from the kitchen, over the block retaining wall and across the Deal's yard.
Landscaping completed on Lot 40. Beginning to look like a real house, and now the street is really looking finished.
This is one of the plants in my family room. It's a zygo-cactus. Most years it flowers twice, once in December, then again in March. This year it did not flower in December, but I suspect that was more due to settling in to the new location, where it receives more sunlight than in the old house.
A view of the back yard, showing the formwork for the path around the side of the house from the garage to the patio. Also show's the Deal's house.
File matching: NOTHING FOUND Meanwhile, there were preparations on the other side of my home too. The window in my home is into the dining room.
A fine day for pouring concrete. My path was the first one done, so it was still pretty early when this photo was taken. The path is exposed aggregate, which is commonly used here. This is made using concrete with gravel in it. As seen in this photo, the concrete has been smoothed out, and is now drying. After a couple of hours, the path is pressure washed, and the surface is swept off with a coarse broom. This leaves the aggregate (or gravel) showing out.
Sure beats mixing by hand! The second concrete truck as the last of the paths is completed. This one involved the most concrete, as Phan's house is sideways to mine, and thus his path runs along the long axis.
The finished product. The formwork has gone, the brushing is complete and the path is done. And very useful too!
The back yard is looking better now. Shows the living fence that Denny and I planted, as well as the new path.
View from my kitchen, looking east over the wall and into the Deal's yard.
