Bath or Bust

Friday, May 2

Bath day! No, not that sort of bath. Linda and I went to Bath. What can I say? It's a fascinating location, with again some wonderful Roman building - the actual baths themselves, with a water supply that still works! - and the Georgian houses which abound. We went on a 2 hour walking tour, which highlighted the city's charms. It was excellent. Even saw the house where Captain Philip (first governor of Australia) retired. And Greenway's house. A city fascinating with its historical connections.

And yet another fascinating cathedral - the Bath Abbey, right in the centre of downtown. This is the burial spot of Capt. Philip, which was unfortunately not accessible due to maintenance on that part of the building. But the interior was exquisite. Especially considering the building was started in 1107.
