A Quiet Day

Saturday, April 19

With the afternoon engagement, we had a quiet morning, heading to the Villa Borghese, a large park, which used to be the summer homes of leading Romans. The houses were outside the walls of the city. It is a nice, quiet area in the middle of the city, and we spent an enjoyable period walking around there, and just sitting watching the world go by.

We headed back to the hotel and cleaned up before catching the train to meet Franco again. We went to an area which was south of the city, in a suburban area. We sat having drinks in a restaurant, on a man made lake, watching people enjoy the sunny afternoon. After that, we headed back to Franco's apartment, and had a wonderful home cooked meal, prepared by Anna. Like many people, the Bodoni family speaks English, which they said is apparently becoming the common language of Europe.
