Suburban Vancouver then to Calgary

Our final Vancouver day was just round and about and then off to the airport for a late afternoon flight to Calgary and connecting to Lethbridge.

View of apartment buildings and distant mountain tops

The view from Dorothy's apartment, looking towards Mt. Seymour.

Street scene with coloured tree, high rise buildings in distance, mountains behind them

Somewhere in Vancouver BC, looking towards the CBD. Caption on the slide indicates it's looking north, which is consistent with the sun's location.

Street scene at an intersection; cars waiting at traffic lights, small office building on the corner.

The caption for this says looking east, but the sun says west, as what sun there is comes in from the left.

Tree lined street with nice homes, trees with autumn leaves, many on the ground

Some random street in a nice part of town. The caption on the slide says these largish houses would sell for $cn250k (1978 dollars). Wow!

The Flight

View out aircraft window, showing rivers north and south of Vancouver

Vancover is below. The dark area about the middle is Stanley Park, with Burrard Inlet above it, and beyond that North Vancouver. The River coming in from just below the wing is the Fraser River. It rises in the mountains east of Vancouver, which extend into Washington state as the Cascades.

View from the plane of snow capped mountains and some clouds

Crossing the mountains east of Vancouver.

Closer view of snow capped mountains, and a lake or dam below them

A bit more snow on these mountains. This flight crosses two mountain ranges, the coastal range and then the Canadian Rockies before descending to Calgary.

View out window, to line of lights across the horizon, with mountain peaks behind and the last night of the day

At Calgary Airport, waiting for the Time Air flight to Lethbdridge.
