From Toronto I flew to New York and Laurie flew to Philadelphia. Both of these involved some business, and we arranged to rendevous in New York City after.
I have no idea what this street is called, but it's near Lake Success on
Long Island, New York state. I was there to check out some equipment and
their experience with it at the Eastern States Bankcard Association, a
credit card processing company.
I had previously arranged to visit John Lions and his family in New Jersey.
John was on sabbatical from UNSW at Bell Labs, and since I was in New York...
I had hired a car for the Lake Success journey, so it was "easy" to drive to
Madison, New Jersey to visit John and his family. This is the house they
were renting. John gave me a tour around Bell Labs, a place of so many
amazing discoveries and inventions.
The street in which the above house is located. Some parts of New Jersey are not
attractive, but this area certainly is.
The United Nations in New York City, from the East River side. The building
in the background is the Chrysler Building.
One of the conference rooms in the UN building. There are a number of these, and
alas, the purpose of this one is not specified.
Another UN conference room, again not identified.
This is described as an ivory carving of the Yunan (?) railway - a gift from
the Chinese government.
The UN General Assembly room. The one where Kruschev banged his shoe on the desk.
