Heading to Waterton Lakes Park

New city, new vistas. First time east of the Rockies. So Urban Pittman selected Waterton Lakes National Park as the day's destination. I think there was some mention of the weather turning for the worse in the next day or so, hence to the park, and outdoors, first.

Flat plains, brown grass and distant mountains, snow on peaks

The journey was south then south west to Cardston then mostly west to the park. This photo shows the Canadian Rockies from north of Cardston. Still distant, but impressive to Australian eyes.

The mountains are bigger - we're getting closer!

White building with prominent square columns, several stories high

Cardston appears to have a strong Mormon presence, as indicated by the Mormon temple.

Classic Mormon church, with tall spire relative to rest of building

And next door to the temple is Mormon church.

Rock at side of road, with shapes embedded, and a hand at the top for size

Urban stopped the car at this rock, so either thare are many in this area, or it is well known and on the regular tour stop! The shapes in the rock are oysters. Meaning this area was once under the ocean.

Sheep in road works depot

Just before reaching the lake is a maintenance depot. These big horn sheep seem interested in the works. Perhaps they smell food.
