Arlington Cemetery

During our 1978 trip to the USA, Laurie and I had some time in Washington DC (the other Washington), and on our final day we made our way to Arlington National Cemetery, the burial place of far too many fallen warriors. As it transpires, we were there on the 15th anniversary of the assassination of President Kennedy. This was not planned, it just happened.

The building in the background was the home of Robert E Lee, who fought on the southern side in the Civil War, even though his house overlooks Washington DC. The people in the foreground are gathered around President Kennedy's grave.
