Bathurst and Orange

Bathurst

Hilltop view over part of town and fields to distant hills

A trip to Bathurst - outside racing weeks - deserves a drive/ride up Mt. Panorama. The view over Bathurst, here, is quite decent. The roads on the bottom (coming in from the bottom of the picture and then heading off to the left) is part of the Mt. Panorama race track, though it has changed significantly since this time. And Bathurst has grown somewhat too.

Orange

Distant countryside, barely visible due to rain

As Mt. Panorama is to Bathurst, so Mt. Canoblas to Orange. Though I believe the latter is higher. By the time I arrived, a rain shower had moved in, and so this is the view of Orange from the mountain. A certain imagination is required.

County view with layers of clouds and distant rain

Part of the cause of the rain in the area.

View over trees to orchards and farms, with distant rain

This is the scene part way down the mountain. At this time, Orange was appropriately named - it was a citrus growing area. Perhaps it still is.

Car parked on side of gravel road leading into trees

The beginning of the road to Mt. Canoblas. Unlike Bathurst, where admittedly Mt. Panorama is very close to the town, this was a dirt/gravel road.

Narrow, sealed road between trees

This part of the road is sealed, though described as the road to Mt. Canoblas. I would guess that this is a country road which leads to the Mt. Canoblas road. Very orderly looking countryside.

Gravel road between a variety of trees

This is also described as the road to Mt. Canoblas, yet is clearly of lower quality than the one above. There is, however, a greater variety of trees.

Residential street with mature trees and older style houses

This is labelled as a side street in Orange. This was likely my first visit to Orange, so I imagine this shot was to give a flavour of the city. It seems to be well cared for community.
