Hyde Park (Sydney) in September

Tall marble building somewhat hidden by trees with sun shining through them

Late August or early September was time to visit Hyde Park (in Sydney) and photograph the area. Carefully hidden behind the trees is the War Memorial, erected I believe to commemorate the losses in World War I. This is located at the southern end of Hyde Park, near the entrance to Museum railway station.

Shallow pool of water surrounded by trees and a path

The War Memorial's reflecting pool. The memorial itself is to the right of this photo. Certainly seems like the seagulls are appreciative of its presence.

Park with palm trees to street with buses and buildings

Looking roughly north west across Hyde Park to Elizabeth Street. My vague recollection is that the building with the curtains draw was the headquarters of the ABC, now removed to Ultimo. About mid picture is an area set aside to promote an ABC-TV series on the bushranger Ben Hall. I don't recall watching it.

Horse drawn wagon in front of sign advertising TV program

The 'Ben Hall' area in the park was to promote the TV series. This is one of the items from the show - a horse drawn wagon, though obviously the horse is missing! And the cleverly positioned sign advising of the programs air date.

Crude log hut with bark roof and farm implements

A typical bush dwelling of the time, I presume. The settlers certainly had a hard time, starting with cutting the timber to build the house.
