The Winery

Back in the bus and off to tour Vignoble St. Petronille vineyard.

Vineyard residence (?) with winery in the cellar

The home, and the winery, which is in the basement building to the right.

KPLU Tour group at XXX winery (still on Île d'Orleans)

Our guide (right, black top) explaining the finer points of grape growing in this area, which benefits from a somewhat warmer climate due to the nearby river. The hills in the background are the Laurentian Mountains.

Grapes showing a little sign of being grapes!

Grapes just starting to appear on the vines.

Typical style of housing on the island

A "typical" farm building for this area, with the highly raked roof.

Reboarding our tour bus to head towards lunch

Time to rejoin the bus and head for lunch!

Lunch

We headed to the western end of the island for lunch at Goeliche which also offers accommodation.

As seen from our lunch stop, a ship travelling upstream on the St. Lawrence, a little below Quebec City

The view from our table out to the main (southern) arm of the Saint Lawrence River, and a passing ship. Lunch was very enjoyable, as indeed was every meal we had!

The restaurant (and hotel) where we had lunch, at western tip of Île d'Orleans

The river side of the property - a fine place to eat at this time of the year. And some of our tour party inspecting the area.

Sandra and Karen - don't interrupt photographers at work!

Quebec City, as seen from restaurant's parking lot on Île d'Orleans

The view from the western end of Ile d'Orleans towards Quebec City, across the major arm of the Saint Lawrence passing the island.

Tour bus and lunch restaurant on Île d'Orleans; preparing to reboard the bus

Ah, but lunch is over, it's time to reboard the bus and head off to the "surprise event".
